When you need to take your healing further, Dr. Cassandra will take you on a journey into yourself. You’ll learn how to work with your mind-body connection to help heal your body and change your life. It starts by getting to the root cause of the issues that are limiting your healing. Here's my story:

My Journey

My interest in medicine began when I was young, even before I started elementary school. I watched the TV show, Marcus Welby, MD, and I imagined myself someday helping patients with the same capable and congenial manner Dr. Welby had. All the way through school, I had that idealistic view of what it would be like to be a physician.

After college, I was thrilled when I was accepted into medical school. But practicing medicine was nothing like I had imagined. After four years of medical school and three years of family medicine residency, I came out of medical training in 1996 feeling disappointed and disillusioned. There is a lot that Western medicine can accomplish, but there are also a lot of patients physicians can’t help—either because we don’t have the treatments or because the patients need to make changes in their lives.

After residency, it seemed like I was the only one who had a problem with the limitations of Western medicine. So I felt very alone as I struggled to find a sense of meaning in it all.

For both my own inner peace and from a desire to help patients heal, I started to investigate other aspects of health and healing. This was an exciting time for me. It brought me back to the place of hope that was missing when I practiced Western medicine the conventional way.

During this time I studied all types of alternative medicine techniques. To more effectively integrate what I was learning into my practice, I went back for more medical training and did a pain fellowship in 2004. I decided to learn about pain management because at that time pain specialists were on the cutting edge of holistic medicine—at least in Minnesota. I really enjoyed my pain fellowship, and I appreciated working with like-minded healthcare providers who recognized that there was more to healing than conventional Western medicine treatments like medications and surgery.

About a year after my pain fellowship, I made a big shift. I opened my own clinic where I could practice medicine the way I felt it would be most beneficial. I integrated Western medicine, complementary and alternative medicine, and my understanding of the mind-body connection.

Over the years I've investigated all different types of healing techniques and concepts. I studied diet, herbs, and supplements. I read about the experiences different people and different cultures had with health and healing. I learned how to do hypnosis and acupuncture. Anything that could expand my awareness was fair game. I investigated New Age healing, metaphysics and spirituality. I practiced different types of meditation and yoga. I consulted psychics and energy healers. I've also become a practitioner of the Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT) and Reiki.

Through my work with my patients and in my own life, I came up with the information in the New Healing Connection course. I've also shifted my work away from my medical practice and onto coaching, so I can focus on helping people work with this information.

I'm happy to say that somewhere along my journey, I've been able to find my sense of peace and fulfillment again. My goal is to teach people how to go within and understand their inner selves better so they can find the sense of healing that I’ve been able to experience.
